Withdrawal is an indication that the train has been slowed down
Any reason all these trains degraded from SF to normal Express. All trains from North East to South degraded together !!

Were there Side middle berths earlier in this GR train ? In a way good there will be slight increase in comfort. The old GR rakes can be used to run specials hopefully

But ultimatly its a good decision coz train ka hi fair increase kr den wo sahi h per sf kam se kam 60+ to hona hi chahiye..

I will give different perspective.
1. Currently, the average passenger load is around 11 lakh sleeper berths, 7 lakh AC (2, 3 and 1 tier) berths, 3 lakh 2S seats and around 1 lakh CC seats per day. The long distance passengers are served through Mail/Express/SF .... Rajdhani, Tejas etc. So 22 lakh reserved passengers with confirmed seat /berth travelling per day... Vande Bharat by March 2024 (assume 150 services) will be in operation offering 1.5 lakh AC seats. Do the passenger get more confirmed seats in April 2024...

If your assessment of premium and non premium trains i would also like to add the fact that nowadays even M/E and SF trains are shaping up to be a premium trains coz of rake standardization.
As of now the number of trains with rake standardization is not much but slowly it will rise and the differences between M/E and SF trains will slowly start to narrow down in terms of cost of travel.

Almost 1 year of your post, still the condition of trains between Howrah and Mumbai/Pune is the same. No improvement.
