sir this is because there is no gurantee that whether a train will depart from NJP or not....suppose you went to purchase 15467 tkt @ NJP @ 16.10 & suddenly news came @ 16.25 that 55768 has hit a herd of elephant inside Mahananda WS then obviously ur train cant depart....so clerks do it as a precautionary measure.
My dear friend for your kind information I would like to inform you that Unreserved tickets do not carry the name of the train rather type of the train e.g. passenger/mail/express/super fast. So your perception is absolutely incorrect and it seems you are defending the pathetic behavior and inhuman nature of the employees of Railway. Are you a railway employee?
I had faced this situation at Rangiya station in Assam but when I complaint to a senior official at the station and asked for the complaint book then the UTS clerk very nicely gave me the ticket.
Now all NFR Stations are having board saying please entry with valid ticket or platform ticket in the station.
NFR should also put a board in front of the UTS counters saying that passengers can buy the unreserved ticket at any time and the UTS clerk cannot deny to sale the ticket and ask the passengers that you will get the ticket before half an hour of the actual arrival of the train. If the UTS clerk failed to do so and pursue his/her willfulness then he will be punished.
