Does anybody know how goods trains are scheduled in Indian Railways? I'm pretty sure there are no specific arr/dep timings, so do they get scheduled whenever there's a gap between two passenger trains? Do they ever get higher priority than passenger trains? In really busy sections like SBC-MAS where there are 18-20 trains in a 24-hr period, doesn't it become nearly impossible to squeeze in goods trains? Does anybody know if Indian Railways uses a computerized system for scheduling goods trains?
well ndls-cnb-ald-mgs-hwh is busiest route with 100s of trains running daily apart from goods trains.
Freights do have specific timings n schedule too. The details are passed to each SM/Control tower in the route.
Only Python, Conraj n the Emergency freight are given top priority in any section.

Freights do have schedule. All freights are infact named too. Some popular freights are Conraj ( Container Rajdhani- highest priority freights), KaiRali Queen, Python, Blue Flame, Red Star, Black Gold, Green Bullet, etc. Freights get he highest priority if the consignment is important.
Thanks, everybody! I didn't know what ConRaj stood for until today, so very useful answers.
