more... A 'RAIL ROKO' AT SHORANUR AGAINST NEGLECT OF NILAMBUR LINE BY BLOCKING PARASURAM EXPRESS FOR 2 HOURS in 1997.
Immediate provocation was Railway's reluctance to run DEMU sanctioned for Nilambur.
4)Railways ran DEMU in the route the next week.
5)A sit in protest on rail track (2nd Line) at Vaniambalam,to protest against degrading the station and attempts to dismantle the 2nd line.
6)The photos of poor condition of track between Melattur and Nilambur were taken and sent to PM,Railway Board,Ministers and MPs.The speed was 50 kmph between MLTR and SRR and 40 KMPH between MLTR and NIL.The speed was a paltry 20 Kmph between MLTR and Tuvvur.(These tracks had wooden sleepers and had light rail,which would not allow higher speed)
FINALLY IN 2000-01 RAIL BUDGET,SANCTION FOR COMPLETE RAIL RENEWAL WAS ORDERED BY Kum.MAMATHA BANERJEE.
7)A cut trip of DEMU was run between SRR and AAM due to our efforts.
8)The trip extended to NIL as FP to connect Venad Express (3rd train)
9)Track renewal between Melattur and Nilambur started.
10)PRS centre sanctioned at AAM,on our pettition to Sri.O.Rajagopalji,Hon MOSR who visited AAM.
11)Survey ordered for NIL-Bathery-Nanjangud line.Reception given to Sri.O.Rajagopal at Kalpetta and Nilambur.
12)Attempts to get a morning train started in 2006.At last a train halting at Nilambur started running in January 2007.(Find reception photos in the album)This was one of our major acheivements.(4th Train)
13)2nd PF at AAM.
14)The plea to run an extra noon train using the idling rake of ERS-SRR Passenger was raised in Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee meetings.This was agreed and in August 2007 a new trip serving as direct service from Nilambur to Ernakulam was started.(5th Train)
15)Angadipuram-Malappuram-Kozhikode line survey ordered.
16)Our plea to improve amenities at small halt stations agreed and works started at Melattur,Thodiyapulam and Pattikad.
All stations in the route were sanctioned PF lights,shelters,toilets and benches.
17)Proposal for new crossing stations at MLTR and KLKLR agreed and proposed by Palakkad division.
18)PF stalls at AAM and NIL.Earlier no food item was available in the route.
19)A walkway connecting PF 1 and 2 at AAM.
20)Combined UTS cum PRS at Nilambur in May 2009.
21)OFC cable laying and Signalling works started,due to our pleas.Late running of trains due to signal failures and broken overhead telephone lines were a regular feature.
22)Mr.E.Ahmed Ji assumes charge as MOSR.FCI godown at AAM reopened.
23)New evening train sanctioned.Inaugural run in August 2009.
24)Combined UTS cum PRS at Vaniambalam.
25)Complete Concrete sleeper laying and new track laid between Melattur and Shoranur.
27)Platform works at Vadanamkurishi,Vallapuzha,Cherukara,Tuvvur Vaniambalam and Angadipuram started.
28)Nilambur declared 'Adarsh' station.New modern Waiting hall inaugurated during GM's visit on Jan 5th 2011.Discussions held with GM and officers regarding NIL-TVC Express train.
29)New station buildings with second entry at NIL and AAM sanctioned. Foundation stones for development works laid by Mr.E.Ahmed on 12-01-11.
