The following UI enhancements have been made to the Atlas:
1. Fast loading: A compressed format of the atlas is now loaded on the main Atlas page to enable quick loading.
2. Route Search: Any station name/code may now be typed in to the drop down list, and all the routes passing through that station will be shown. Any of the displayed routes may be selected, and the same will be highlighted on the map.
3.
...
Station List: Once a route is highlighted, all the mapped stations lying on that route will appear on the right. Any of these stations may be clicked to view the exact location, as well as further details on that station.
4. True Distances: The Km distances of the displayed stations can also be seen (from the first station on that route). These distances are true distances - so for hilly terrains and the Konkan route, you may quickly check out the actual distances between stations. More enhancements showing rail distances between any 2 stations, etc. will also be provided shortly. For now, the indirect subtraction method may need to be used.
5. Route Colours have been slightly tweaked to clearly show single and double tracks apart.
6. The Atlas data will soon be merged into existing train routes, to provide richer search, route connections and so forth.
Corrections, changes, station additions and UI enhancements to the Atlas are expected to continue on a daily basis, indefinitely. For this reason, it is now called "The Living Atlas". As always, this disclaimer that the Atlas is not perfect, feedback is welcome, and any mistakes pointed out will be corrected as soon as possible.
Thanks.
