Chennai Metro to be opened very soon! The stretch between Koyambedu and Alandur is all set to open! The Koyambedu-Shenoy Nagar line is set for a July 2015 launch.
CMRL has been conducting trial runs on the Koyambedu-Alandur line since February 2014. "After the year-long trials, 10 metro rakes are ready to begin service,“ an official said. Officials estimate that around 1 lakh commuters will make use of the service on the Koyambedu- Alandur line, helping reduce traffic congestion on 100 Feet Road (Jawaharlal Nehru Salai).

the state government is yet to respond to CMRL's repeated requests for a launch date. Representatives of the company and commuters on the stretch who look forward to using metro rail are growing restless at the prospect of a breach in the promised launch date of March 2015.
TN government should not wait for the convicted former CM Jayalalitha to open it. People should force the puppet CM OPS to inaugurate it as early as possible.
