------------------ TRIAL REPORT OF ADHESION IMPROVEMENT OF WAG-9 LOCOMOTIVES -------------------------------------
In this Particular blog I will share the "TRIAL REPORT OF ADHESION IMPROVEMENT OF WAG-9 LOCOMOTIVES" in PDF Format published by RDSO Lucknow. But before sharing the Link of this Report I think it is necessary to clear some concepts described below:
What do you mean by the term "Railway Adhesion" or "Adhesion Traction"?
Ans:
...
Adhesion Railway or Adhesion Traction is the most common type of railway, where power is applied by driving some or all of the wheels of the locomotive.Rail adhesion relies on the friction between a steel wheel and a steel rail. For more details about "Railway Adhesion" or "Adhesion Traction" kindly refer to the following Link:
What do you mean by the term "Factor of Adhesion"?
Ans: In railroad engineering, the factor of adhesion of a locomotive is the weight on the driving wheels divided by the starting tractive effort. The corollary of the above is that as a locomotive's available tractive effort increases, so must the weight on the driven axles increase for adequate rail adhesion. For most locomotives, the tractive effort of a locomotive can be guessed well just by knowing the number of driven wheels and the maximum axle load for which it was designed. For more details please visit: click here
What do you mean by the Terms "Axle Load" & "Tractive Effort"?
Tractive Effort: Tractive effort is the force generated by a vehicle's engine or motor in order to generate motion through tractive force. For more details please refer:
Axle Load: The axle load of a wheeled vehicle is the total weight felt by the roadway and railways for all wheels connected to a given axle. For more details: click here

i'll have to admit one thing, even as an electrical engineer, i have difficulty in understanding the complete reports you put up, but nevertheless your work is admirable (y)

Is it helpful sir?
I am a fellow from Economics background but a "Die hard" railfan and wants to learn and research more and more about WAP5, WAP7 & WAG9 Locomotives and LHB Coaches. So post such blogs as a part of my research to make IRI rich with infos about 3 Phase Locomotives and LHB Coaches.

for me, yes because electrical engineers anyways end up studying traction as one of the topics (not so much in-depth, obviously). For others it depends on their level of interest and urge to know things.

I have already posted many such infos here. I have dedicated a blog for the project of updating the 3 Phase Fleet of IR by Auxiliary Converter and Hotel Load Converter delivered by the following firms
M/S Medha(Medha Servo Drives Pvt Ltd)
M/S Bhel
ABB
This

updation is done by Chittaranjan Locomotive works and now it is continued and I update every month progress of this project of CLW here.
