Union Railway Minister Mamata Bannerjee on Tuesday announced that the services four existing popular trains would be extended.
After flagging off three new trains on Tuesday, Mamata said: “Bangalore-Hubli train would be extended till Dharwad, Mysore-Tirupati train would be extended till Chamarajanagar, Mumbai-Karwar train would be extended till Mangalore and Bangalore- Mangalore train would be extended till Kannur. “ The minister said that a duronto train from Bangalore to Howrah. will be soon introduced.

Good news from railway minister for people in kerala espicially to people from Malabar living in Mumbai. When announced in the budget about this train i was wondering if it can run up to Karwar why can't it be extended up to Mangalore for the benifit of people from Mangalore and Kerala, but somehow railway had done it. Thanks

Special train will be inaugurated on 21.11.2009 and this Inaugural Special will run Ex - Mumbai CSTM at 15:05 Hrs on 21.11.2009, with 12 coaches. As a regular service, Train No.2133 Mumbai CSTM Karwar Express will run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 23.11.2009. The train will leave Mumbai CSTM at 22.15 hrs & reach Karwar at 08.20 hrs (Next day). Train No.2134 Karwar Mumbai CSTM Express will run on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 24.11.2009. The train will leave from Karwar at 17:45 hrs & reach CSTM at 04.05 hrs. (Next day).
This new Superfast Train will halt at Thane, Panvel, Ratnagiri, and Madgaon. This train consists of 15 coaches. Passengers may avail the same. Detailed time table can be viewed on KRCL’s website www.konkanrailway.com

The above said new was published in The Express daily on December 9, 2009. I agree that there is no officaal press release but the railway is planning to extend the train up to Mangalore.
