Tambaram has 8 platforms in total. 1, 2 and 3 go to Beach Station for Suburban trains. 3 and 4 for Chengalpattu & Tirumalpur (Kanchipuram) bound Suburban trains. 5 and 6 are for all express trains and fast suburban trains towards Chennai Egmore. 7 and 8 are for all Express trains going to Madurai, Rameswaram and Kanniyakumari. You can find canteens, book stalls and Avin Milk Parlour at Platform 1 & 2. Cool drinks and small shops are available at Platform 7 & 8. Waiting hall and toilets, ATMs are available on the western side of the entrance. Reservation and ticket booking counters are available on the west side of the entrance, close to Platform 1. There are also ticket booking counters available on the eastern side of the entrance. You can find an escalator on the western side and eastern side of entrance at Platform 1A. The western side of the entrance is close to the RPF police station. Go to the western side of the exit to reach the main bus stand.
