What are those silver coloured boxes seen beside railway tracks along the way and what are they used for?

Can you tell me what are UB and sometimes BB written on those location boxes
BB is I guess Battery Box! I will confirm UB/BB Codes in next few days.
By the way can i know the specific locations at which these location boxes can be seen.
