Further to my request of 28th Dec '09 & encouraged by atleast one Person Mr Manish Panda seconding my request, I have the following suggestions:-
1] As LCA [ Low Cost Airlines] are competing with IR [ the pressure is slightly less] , we can try the following:-
1.1] Definitely overnight train travel is more helpful for full sleep & is from...
more... to the heart of the city, we can to attract more business traveller create pay & use washroom facility where one can have a bath, shave etc. This would not only save on Hotel Rooms but enable the business traveller to use the whole day positively. He can catch the pairing overnight train and be back.
1.2] In airlines, if one does not get a confirmed ticket for a particular desired flight, i recall they used to allow confirmation on the second best and yet allow the same ticket to be put on waiting list for the first choice. e.g I wish to fly by the 9 am flight on Ahmedabad Mumbai flight which is unavailable, then i can take a confirmed ticket on the next / prev flight say 10 am & yet keep my ticket waitlisted on the 9 am flight. If the 9 am flight gets confirmed the 10 am flight confirmation gets cancelled automatically. Only thing I have to come to airport early. Now that we are having many trains between the same , this is a practical option
1.3] While searching for availabilty on a long sector say Ahmedabad Varnasi or so, if we get alternative availability, say instead of direct Ahmedabad - Varanasi, we get Ahmedabad New Delhi & New Delhi/Delhi Varanasi, then the passenger can chose one that is convenient to him/her. Normally tickets are available for short journey's compared to long ones, hence this would also be additional source for money.
