After the shocks of up journey ,
/blog/post/1739459
Now i started for my down journey for CTC to BLS in the only diesel hauled express train in CTC-BLS stretch - 12892 bangriposi intercity.
I reached CTC station at 17:20hr and found that some WAP hauled train was coming to Pf1. It was 12253 YPR-BGP Anga Express behind a SRC WAP 4. I found

the reason why this train is provided with 5 GEN coaches. Even those 5 General coaches are insufficient. The coaches were swarming with people and heavy crowd was there. Soon it left after a brief halt and then 12892 made its grand entry into CTC pf1 behind a ferociously chugging VSKP WDM 3A. The train left after a elongated halt of 10 minutes. Seems like it was giving a long gap between Anga and himself.
At 18:00hr it left CTC with loud honk & chug. Soon it was touching 40-50 kmph while entering gigantic Mahanadi bridge. I was feeling like as the train was crossing the mahanadi, the Pilot was slowly slowly increasing the throttle. My coach was D1 which was somewhat last coach. So just as my coach reached the last quarter of river, the loco caught mps violently. I think just as the WDM crossed the Bridge, the pilot gave full throttle. Soon we were hitting excess of 100 kmph but was very smoothly running. The smoke of WDM was visible at my window. Quickly many trains we crossed. Barbil Puri Intercity with ANGL WAG 7 on the Mahanadi bridge. BHC CTC Passenger with a VSKP WAM near MACR. SHM SC special behind BZA WAG 7 at BYY. East coast behind a SRC WAP 4 near JEN.
We arrived JJKR at 18:45 hr with 7 minutes delay o Pf 2. After a tiny 1 min halt, the train soon hit the mps and it was no slowing down then. Only at Brahmani bridge the train slowed down , but that too i think was 60-70 kmph. Then at KED we crossed the premier Puri Shatabdi express running behind a SRC WAP 4.
I was waiting for Coromandal to pass but it didn't happened. Thanks to our ALCO Pilot. He covered the JJKr-BHC stretch in just 30 minutes and at exactly 19:10 we were standing at BHC Pf 1. And i saw the SER King HWH MAS Coromandal behind a SRC WAP 4 standing on Pf 2. Crowd was as usual exaggerating on that train. We arrived BHC 15 min before time. Now the boring part starts-waiting for the train to depart at its regular time. We waited 15min at BHC , then we got Green signal.
The train soon hit mps and this puny 12 coaches were nothing load for the heavy duty WDM ALCO.
I reached BLS at 20:25hr , just a delay of 7min on Pf 3.
As usual the whole train got empty at BLS itself. It was all empty from BLS to BGY.
Some images:
Mahanadi Bridge crossing.
and waiting for the train to leave at BHC. 15 minutes halting for an Intercity seriously makes time boring.

This is my one of the favourite train. I travelled number of times in this train from BLS to BBS and back. More or less it maintains it schedule. Yes, most of the train gets empty at BLS only. Earlies this train had CC coach, which was later removed. Now only D1 is reserved coach, rest is GEN.

Godavari is a big river....agreed and if you observe it carries a lot of water throughout the year!
Mahanadi is a misleader...
If you see the water levels during dry season, you would question the need for such a humoungous bridge....
The same Mahanadi is terrifying during the rainy season....
It

carries nearly 2 million cc water per sec which is nearly equal to that of 'River Ganga'! Godavari is way behind Mahanadi during the flood seasons!

Thats why every monsoons , coastal odisha comes under floods badly. Govt has made many dams to control floods but still when nature comes in full flow, the dams even couldn't control the water level.

yes. Earlier 3 reserved coaches were present - 1 CC and 2 2S but due poor patronage of CC , they removed it with a extra Gen coach. Now its running with 2 Second Sitting coach-D1 & D2. Rest are General coach.
