Ahmedabad - Mumbai - Pune route is using Electric DC line, once it will get converted to AC line it will add speed. Also IR are planing to add two more lines on this route so wait for some time. for Highspeed Train
The DC Electric system is used around Bombay (This includes Mumbai CST - Kalyan, Kalyan - Pune, Kalyan - Igatpuri, Mumbai CST - Belapur - Panvel, and Churchgate - Virar). There are plans to change this to 25kV AC by 2010.
Throughout the rest of the country, on all electrified routes, AC Electric system is used.

Thanks for your information. Well, I am aware that there is 40% jack up in kms. between Roha and Mangalore, but the saving in kms by going through this route as against earlier long route will almost equalise the fares or even result in saving. eg. the kms distance between Mumbai CSTM to Trivandrum via Konkan Rly route and Via Pune earlier long route is drastically reduced. Apart from this considerable saving in travel time, one gets in bonus.
Yes agar navsaari Halt hai to valsad ko bhi dena chahiye....
