Lucknow: Railways suspended a loco pilot and an assistant loco pilot for trail-through at Manaknagar station in Lucknow. The driver and assistant driver of Barauni-New Delhi Vaishali express were prima facie found guilty of negligence after they started moving the train though the signal was for Azamgarh-New Delhi Kaifiyat express.
Station staff raised an alarm after which the driver stopped the train but by then at least 15 coaches of Vaishali had crossed the signal. The incident took place around 11.45pm on Sunday as Vishali express entered Manaknagar and was stationed at track no. 2 while Kaifiyat was already there on track no. 3 at the station. At 11.50pm Kaifiyat got signal to move but it was the other train on the

adjacent track which started moving. It was stopped only after the driver was alerted on walkie-talkie. Both driver and assistant driver were suspended.
A point is from where one train moves from one track to another. Due to trail-through the track got disturbed and this affected the movement of train. The track was declared fit at round 2am.

In this case, both the trains are non-stopping trains with unscheduled halts and its not big station either. Also, I guess, signal generally will be present on left side towards the LP in a double line section. So, they should identify them easily.

It was indeed negligence on the part of the LP and ALP, hence both are suspended.

Once signal was given Vishali express started moving. What about Kaifiyat. LP/ALP of Kaifiyat would also have seen the signal along with Vishali LP. They would have noticed Vishali LP/ALP breaking the signal. They could have informed Vishali LP/ALP. If they had noticed and informed, i guess train wouldn't have went that far. Hardly 2 or 3 coaches would have been crossed before bringing to stop.
