Along with the doubling of Rajpura-Patiala-Dhuri-Bathinda rail section, the NH-64 highway which connects Chandigarh-Bathinda via Patiala is also under construction of four laning with state of the art Automating Paving machines constructing concrete road. From Zirakpur- to PTA alone in 35 kms, the highway has 12 flyovers, 1 ROB. and its going to be a toll road with 2 toll plazas between Patiala-Zirakpur alone. The cost of the project is 4000cr , a foreign firm has bagged the contract.
