लोकल ट्रेन चलाने से रेल को जो घाटा होता है उसका एक उपाय यह किया जा सकता है कि चेन्नई ,कोलकाता ,मुंबई दिल्ली की लोकल रेलों के नेटवर्क को उपनगरीय रेल के तौर पर अलग कर दिया जाय और इनके किराए में पचास प्रतिशतकी वृद्धि की जाय।
Woh bhi kam sabit hoga, ghata poora karne ke liye aur jyada badhotri karni hogi. Passenger trains bhi isee category mein hi aati hai aur unmebhi Monthly pass banta hai.
IRly has planned to convert all passenger trains into memu/ dmu trains like suburban trains, so practically there will be no difference between suburban trains passenger trains on rest of India. Issue is not the suburban trains or passenger trains, issue is excessive concession given on monthly passes of both in addition to very low ordinary second class fares.
