Do you think that instead of MAS MAQ and Pandian exp , SR should have given preference to TN superfast in LHB allocation.

Very long distance trains like TN, GT, Kerala express etc have a very large number of UR passengers depending on them. As all of these trains are already 24 coachers, conversion to LHB will cause severe inconvenience to the UR passengers. For over-night trains and short distance trains, buses and other cheap options are available and are comfortable also. A UR passenger who can't get a seat in MAS-MAQ can find a good number of buses or a convenient chain and travel relatively easily. But a UR passenger between Delhi and Madras will be literally stranded if he can't find a seat in the train.
For this reason, long distance trains, especially those that are already 24

coachers, should not be converted to LHB unless the CC can be increased. However, shorter trains like TNSK, NDLS-PDY etc can be LHBfied first as conversion will not impact CC for these trains.

buses are more expensive than trains and TN has only 2 UR coach. Also person who travels long distance prefer reserved coach more so I would say that better to give LHB to long distance than short distance.

Long Distance Trains which enjoy good patronage should never be given LHB rakes until and Unless IR do't start full fledged use of HOG capable D & E locos. Those 2 EOGs are just an atrocity on UR Passengers.

I am talking about UR passengers, not reserved passengers. Even the 2 UR coaches ( 4 if you include the SLR as they also have some seating capacity) are horribly packed and usually have enough people to fill 6 UR coaches with normal seating and even worse in some times. Now a person traveling to MDU or MAQ from MAS, can at least travel to some other intermediate station like CBE or TPJ and find connecting buses or trains and reach his destination relatively comfortably. For 400-500km, even traveling by multiple trains or train+bus combo is comfortable. But if said person has to travel from MAS to NDLS, then if he can't board the train, then it will be a sheer nightmare as 2000km of travel hoping between trains and alternative means, will be very tiring and hard, especially while traveling in UR.

500km distance , even if expensive by bus, is still at least possible to travel and many options will be available. But for 2000km, if the person has to struggle and find alternative means, not only will it be expensive, it will also be physically difficult. UR coaches in the northbound and eastbound trains from the south, like TN, GT, HWH mail and Coromandel are always fully packed. Any decrease in UR count will severely affect several hundred people every trip!

TN should have got LHB rake so that it can be used to its potential to run with track MPS 120/130 wherever possible.
I would like to see trains running with higher MPS track with ICF rake should get first.
I am happy Pandian getting LHB rake since its premium train but MAS-MAQ was given just because press started to highlight unused LHB rakes idling at MAS.

is still not planning and utilizing resources optimally.
If it would have introduced LHB rake to TN it could have speeded up by 2-3 Hours which in turn could have saved money on operations for railways.
PS: When trains with less than 50 KMPH are getting LHB rake why not SF trains?
