more... rank in the state for punctuality of trains, Nanded division of the South Central Railway (SCR) has now secured coveted ranking on the cleanliness front also.
The latest report by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) shows that Nanded station has topped in SCR division and whole of Maharashtra standing. It has also bagged 9th position in India in cleanliness.
"Among the top 15 clean divisions based on level-1 and level-2 stations category, Nanded division stands at first in Maharashtra and 11th in India," Nanded divisional railway manager (DRM) A K Sinha said.
Titled as Survey of major railway stations for cleanliness ranking, the IRCTC report claimed to have covered 407 major stations across the country, including 75 A-1 category stations and 332 A category stations.
"During the survey, feedback was gathered from different rail users, porters, vendors and Service Improvement Group Members. It is great achievement for our entire staff and team members to earn yet another milestone," Sinha said.
Earlier this month, Nanded division that covers Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani and Nanded under it ambit topped in Maharashtra and secured fourth rank in India in running the trains on right time among 70 divisions in the country.
Meanwhile, range of activities have been taking place at Nanded division as a part of Swachh Rail-Swachh Bharat. The nine-day event, which began on September 17, intends to reform the entire railway system to meet highest standards of cleanliness.
The cleanliness drive will be continued all over 80 stations of Nanded division. Different officers and supervisors have been deputed for successful completion of the activities, including plantation of saplings, railway authorities said.
Authorities said plans are being worked out for carrying out maintenance of cleanliness of railway stations and trains by involving staff, voluntary organizations, scouts and guides and charitable institutions among others. Source: Times Of India
