In the 1990's all south bound trains from ADI via BSR-PUNE were hauled by AC electric locos till BSR and changed to DC locos till PUNE.
All trains SHOULD use electric locos where ever traction is available so that that IR can save millions on fuel! In any case trains most of the time run late and additional 15 minutes of loco change time vs cost saving should not be a reason. The additional costs saved should be distributed as bonus to all IR staff and spent on improving / maintanence infrastructure. BRC-PNVL, ADI-PUNE/DD should be the first priority for IR.
