Being a rail fan brings with it, its fair share of quirks. This post pertains to the recently released Dhoni biopic.
While everybody else was immersed in the emotional drama playing out at KGP, I was left scratching my chin. The year was 2001. Yet an LHB Shatabdi rake is shown departing from KGP. Now, AFAIK, these coaches were first introduced in the Mumbai Raj in 2003, if we ignore the trial runs in the NDLS-LKO sector earlier.
So is this a goof up or am I missing something here ?

Actually, both of them were already being operated in 2001. The first Shatabdi liveried LHB coaches came to IR in 1998, and were being used for trials on the LKO Shatabdi. Though they probably never came to KGP, the coaches themselves were already operating on IR.
WAG9 on the other hand, came to IR in 1996 and CLW even started manufacturing them by 1998. Most of the initial locos were also stabled at Gomoh, which is quite near to KGP. So, the WAG9 hauling a passenger train in the movie was quite possible.

I had shared an image from trailer where Bhubhneshwar Rajdhani was shown with LHB coaches while it was quite late to get those. The issue and plus point with MSD was that since it was shot at real location unlile other movies which are in studio and rest is VFX. However the crowd at KGP gave me exact feelings of HWH. A sea of crowd going with and against u.
Steel exp. no shown is quite ok as at that time it was not a superfast train and ran with no. 8013/8014.
It was in 2005 when mamta banerjee converted more than 250 tains to sf that this train also got converted to sf with this no
