Also one more suggestion until the bypass materializes. Railways should have separate engines for Pune to Daund and Daund to Manmad section for a train. As soon as train coming from Pune stops at Daund, there should be a parallel process of detaching the engine towards Solapur end of the train and attaching another engine at Pune/Manmad end of the train. This way they can reduce the turnaround time at Daund Junction from some 20-30 min to just 5 min. The detached engine can then be attached for next train which has a reversal at Daund.

An electric trip shed ( ETS) will be needed for Daund to hold so many locomotives as to provide a new loco for every train reversing in DD. As of now, only the incoming locos will be reversed to the other end of the train. As both Pune and MMR are quite close to Daund, and already have all facilities for loco changes and have trip sheds, there won't be any significant change in operations in DD until improvements are made in the DD-Wadi section.
There are 26-30 train reversals each day at Daund. The assignment of locos should be done in such a way that not more than 2 locos would be required to be held up. They should smartly manage this. At Karjat, a train leaves in 3 minutes after attachment of bankers. So it can be this efficient.
