Been to Bidar many times. The Bidar- Gulbarga road is good. But the Gulbarga-Ballari road is horrible.
I read GoK is developing that Gulbarga-Ballari-Srirangapatna road as 4 lane. Read the ad recently in papers.

But since elections are nearing some progress is bound to take place for Bidar:

By March these things will happen:
1. New pitline, stabling line at Bidar.
2. Bidar-SBC new train on new line.
3. 2-3 DEMUs on Bidar-Kalaburagi line. Maybe a passenger from GR to SC thru Bidar.
4. Keeping eyes on Karnataka - Punjab elections, and Bidar being a pilgrim site for sikhs, one sikh devotee I met at Bidar station said they may introdue a weekly from Punjab, probably Amritsar. This is unlikely, I said. But the sheer number of sikh pilgrims who travel between Nanded and Bidar may force them, he believed.
