They could have easily managed at least a WAG-7, that could have saved about 1000+ ltr of diesel. But they don't care.
There are a lot of examples already present in IR where more than 80% of route is electrified, but railways prefer using D-loco end to end.

Unavailability of e locos or unavailability of e loco drivers. Cznt always emotionally speculate administrative decisions of railways from the outside.
Is Pune a very small station which cannot even arrange a WAG-7 ?
There are 80+ trains originating from Pune+ Significant amount of freight traffic. So will Pune be short of Locos and LP's ?

Dont think loco allotment to individual trains are done at the station level.
