If SWR is really serious about cutting down diesel bill and maintaining punctuality, they will surely work out LSA. Many trains can easily have LSA at GTL.
-
As for GY or Dhone - both have crew changing facilities. If they can work out LSA for a few trains it will be good, as the loco may not need maintenance, since its just some 350 odd Kms from SBC, so that works out to 700 Kms between maintenance. They don't need ETS for such short hauls isn't it?.

It'll take some time though. In case of routes like MMR-Pune or NDLS-GKP, the e-locos were being provided from NDLS side, and trains just had to proceed further from MMR or GKP with the same e-loco. So they could immediately start switching to e-locos.
But in this case, most of the trains in this route originate at SBC/YPR which have only trip sheds and cannot easily provide more locomotives on demand. There are about 30 odd trains on this route every week, and it'll take time for SCR/SWR to make arrangements to have more locomotives ready at GTL or SBC/YPR. So rest assured, it would take a couple of months on completion of the substation to

have trains running with e-locos here.
The bigger problem is the incomplete sub-station. Unlike diesel routes which have practically no capacity constraints, Electrified routes are limited by the sub-station capacity. As the Someshwara substation is still to be completed, not many trains can run with electric traction as of now.
GY has only 2 platforms, that's why SCR doesn't do any loco changes there. Trains like Venkatadri and KCG-MS run with diesel traction between RU-GY . Dhone can surely have loco changes, so trains with scheduled halts will get a loco change there, but trains with only technical halts there like Raj/KSK will continue with diesel locos to save time.
SCR has traditionally preferred running trains with diesel-under-wire until the routes are completely electrified till convenient locations, particularly the twin-diesel hauled trains. So, the trains by-passing GTL and not having a scheduled halt at Dhone might not get e-locos until completion of the route till SC.

Thanks. Any idea when the problem will be resolved and it will achieve 25KV?

The problem with current govt is they are inaugurating things half-done. Now first off they are good, in the sense they are trying to complete old projects before announcing new. But why inaugurate before things are completed?

keep going back to Palani-Palakkad line. They did the GC. Good ..... Very Good!!!! But to get full benefit of the credit from people, politically, run atleast one or two passengers thru and thru. Or else, instead of appreciation and votes, people will be angry and the backlash will damage their chances, come 2019.

Why inaugurate NDL-YA line before things are in place? People waited for 20 years, they will surely wait another year. Instead now, only the memory of badly finished project and non-utilization of the line will be on top of people's mind.
-------------
Some trains like Nagercoil/TVC-CST, TN-OKHA, CBE-RJT trains will get e-locos before SBC trains because they pass thru ED, so they may get from ED to GTL. This I base on the document shared by PUNE/DD members who before the inauguration shared a doc in which RB had asked zones to run some of these trains with e-locos on electrified section. Also, I recently saw a train (17316) which hitherto was coming with d-loco, came to YPR with e-loco from ED.
