I am booked onto train 16517 from Bangalore to Kannur in early March 2017.

I have read that the route travelled by this train contains some great scenery, for example over bridges, under tunnels and mountainsides, etc.

much of this scenery am I likely to be able to see?

I have read that the stretch between Sakleshpur and Subrahmanya Road is the best, but this train does not arrive at Subrahmanya Road until around 5:50 am, by which point I think it should be just starting to get light outside.

Has anyone used this exact train and could give advice about whether I am likely to be able to see any of the great scenery on this route, or anything in particular I should look out for? For example, is any of the later stretch (when the sun will be up) between Subrahmanya Road and Mangalore also similar in terms of travelling along bridges and along the mountainsides?

Thanks

I had recently traveled in this train from MYS to SBHR. Yes the stretch between Sakleshpur and SBHR is breathtaking with too many tunnels and bridges but for that you cant see much as it would pass at after 3:30 am. The sunlight will start appearing after 5:45 am in November not sure about other months(Might be early).
A suggestion from my side is if you need to see such beatifully scenary, Take the biweekly intercity between SBC-KARWAR which will be a day journey and can enjoy the scenic beauty :)
