Why IR always wait for the public representatives who generally does not have enough knowledge about the realities of IR. Once they demand, it becomes a prestige issue for them before their electorate and they are hell bent to get their demands implemented even if it is not good for IR. IR should repetitively study every economic activity like foot fall, traffic, ticket sales, etc of stations, trains, divisions, routes, zones etc and publish the data in transparent manner so that every interested Indian can know the facts and real data pertaining to IR. There should be standardised norms for every facility like stoppage of trains, introduction of new trains, provision of passenger amenities, construction of new lines etc. If the people and their representatives know the facts and the norms, they shall desist from making non-feasible or impractical demands and put more burden on IR.
