which are roaming in forest at night. There is a guest house of APTDC also near check post if u want to spend that night if u r going by a private hired vehicle. And only 2 RTC Buses allowed from Hyderabad in night time at 21.30 and 22.00 PM and can arrive Srisailam by 03.15/03.30. I saw some times Tigers also while going in these buses and one tiger stopped our bus for 1/2 hr as it hunted a deer and eating at road side. Drivers are not allowed to blow horn and make fear them. So we must wait there until the animal leaves the place.

Some History fo Srisailam
Srisailam played a dominant role in our religious, cultural and social history from ancient times.
The epigraphical evidence reveals that the history of Srisailam begins with the Sathavahanas who were the first empire builders in South India. The earliest known historical mention of the Hill - Srisailam, can be traced in Pulumavis Nasik inscription of 1st Century A.D.

the Ikshavakus, the Pallavas, the Vishnukundis, the Chalukyas, the Kakatiyas, the Reedy Kings, the Vijayanagara Emperors and Chatrapathi Shivaji are among the famous emperors who worshipped God Mallikarjuna Swamy.
Prataparudra of Kakatiya Dynasty strived a lot for the improvements of this Kshetram and granted Paraganas for its maintenance. Ganapathideva has spent 12000 Golden Nanyas for the maintenance of the temple.
The period of Reddi Kings is the Golden Age of Srisailam that almost all rulers of the dynasty did celebrated service for this temple. In 14th Century Prolaya Vema Reddi of Reddy Dynasty constructed stepped path-way to Srisailam and Pathalaganga (Here the river Krishna is called as Pathalaganga) and Anavema Reddi constructed Veera Siromandapam in which the Veerasaiva devotees cut off their hands, tongue, limbs with devotion to attain the realisation of the God. This practice is known as Veeracharam.
he Second Harihararaya of Vijayanagara Empire constructed the Mukhamantapam of Swamy shrine and also a Gopuram on Southern Side of the temple.
In the 15th Century Sri Krishnadevaraya Constructed the Rajagopuram on Eastern side and Salumantapas on both sides of the temple.
chatrapathi-sivajiThe last Hindu King who strove hard for the improvement of the temple is Chatrapathi Shivaji who constructed a Gopuram on northern side in the year 1667 A.D.

Timings same
But the Dense Forest and Little huts of Tribes in the forest give's a Nice feeling. In Night if you are traveling from Hyderabad. Please try to book seat behind driver if you are traveling Express Bus. If you are lucky u can see TIGER at any time after Check post. This chance is very very less in Vijayawada side as No bus is permitted after 9 PM to Srisailam. (From Hyderabad side 2 Buses allowed.)
I personally saw Tigers in 4 time while traveling from Hyderabad. And once the Tiger stopped our Bus for 1/2 Hr.
Don't loose any chance to travel if u get a reserved ticket behind Driver seat from Hyderabad side. u can book Ticket online of TSRTC official website also
