On my recent travel on board the MG passenger train connecting Mavli to Marwar, I was surprised as well as shocked to see large number of unmanned railway crossings in the route. Though most of these unmanned railway crossings are through remote villages , however there are also few unmanned crossings which pass through a few major towns. Due to the absence of level crossing gates, the LP/ALP slow down the train, honk continuously as they approach the LC gate and they accelerate after crossing the LC. Tough job for the crew to maintain safety. As far as i remember there are atleast 80-100 unmanned LC gates in the route...

This is one way and another what i witnessed in Nainpur-Mandla fort NG route was LC used to be closed by a staff who used to travel in train. Train used to stop before LC and once he goes down and closes LC, train used to move further and wait after crossing LC so that he can board the train again.
