The practice of soliciting of tips by contract staff in trains such as this is assuming alarming proportions. The catering staff employed by the private contractor came for tips at around 1 pm about 3 hrs before the train was to reach YPR. An elderly gentleman sitting opposite me in the sleeper class offered Rs. 10 which was refused on the ground that the "FIXED RATE" per pax was Rs. 30 for SLEEPER CLASS. Ultimately he refused to pay any tips and neither did I, because their behaviour left a lot to be desired. 30 mns later the CLEANING STAFF also came for their BAKSHEESH saying that they were not entitled to any share in the tips given to catering staff and hence they had to be paid separately. Fortunately the bed roll wallahs who were employees of IRCTC did not come up with their demands. I think it is high...

i did face the same problem few months back while traveleiing in SBC-NZM Rajadhani.they started collecting after dinner at around 10pm and some started as early at 5AM.
there are other SEVAS available in the train like one coach attedent approached me to supply liquor of any brand.
