I was on a railfanning trip to a station named Ghoraghata (GGTA) on the Kharagpur- Santragachi stretch of SER (South Eastern Railways). As my EMU from Howrah was approaching a station named Fuleshwar, I saw a unique liveried train approaching from Kharagpur side with a WAG- 7 in lead. As I started recording the video, I realized it was the brand new rake of ANTYODAYA Express headed by a 27009 MGS WAG- 7 in lead.
The entire rake consisted of 22 coaches (20 GS+ 2 EOG), and was booked for SER's SRC base. The rake would be used either for the Howrah (HWH)- Ernakulam (ERS) ANTYODAYA, or the Santragachi (SRC)- Chennai Central (MAS) ANTYODAYA.
Now, I have quite a few queries regarding the train, listed below.
1) The EOGs were marked with 160 km/hr top speed. But the GS coaches had 2 set of markings, as 105 km/hr and 130 km/hr (You can freeze the video, and check). Why is it so?
2) Other than being a LHB rake sporting a new livery (And having extra sets of seats instead of the luggage rack), it this ANTYODAYA in anyway different than the JAN SADHARAN/ JAN SEWA/ JAN NAYAK set of train? Or is it just Old Wine in New Bottle??

IR provided on board drinking water facilities in Jayanti Janata series of trains more than 40 years ago, but as usual people did not care about using the facilities carefully. So, instead of dealing with the headache of having to replace the stolen stuff and maintain everything, IR just didn't bother to add any facilities in the later trains.
The fare hike is not just for the facilities. Nobody denies that the AC class fares have gone out of hand, but for sleeper and unreserved class, IR still remains very cheap, particularly for long distance travel. The fares need not be increased by a large amount. There is a safe margin till which an increase in the

fare is not really a burden for the people. At least that nominal increase has to be made.

I personally feel proving Water Purifiers in these Fully Unreserved General coaches seem to be a disaster. In a country where fire extinguishers, lamps, fans, handwash, etc gets stolen from trains on an almost daily basis, I doubt how long will these purifiers last in these coaches.

RDSO stipulates that routes need to be maintained to C & M 1 Vol 1 standards to allow speeds higher than 105kmph. That's why the speed limit is mentioned as 105kmph for non-rajdhani standards.

Well, at least IR is doing it's part by providing the facility. It's good, given that it's very difficult to get packaged water in many routes and stations. Whether it turns out to be a good idea, now depends on the passengers.

Few people abuse the services and bcoz of those few people depriving a whole class of passengers from better facilities is definitely not justified. Wifi services available at stations also gets abused by some Idiotic people but bcoz of those few Idiots if Indian railways says that it will not provide this facility at any of it's station, would that be a right decision?
Passengers travelling in Unreserved coaches also have the right to get better facilities that can enhance their travel experience. Railway isn't a private enterprise that it would only care about Reserved passengers. It's a public organization and it has obligations towards it's each & every passenger irrespective of the class in which he/she travels.
