~~~~~~~~~ Antyodaya Derailed Even before its First Run ~~~~~~~~~~~
Everyone would be now knowing that ERS-HWH will be the first Antyodaya to run ,But,i think it might be the first Antyodaya to DERAIL as well even before the First run has started !!!!.
Ya, LS5 variant LHB coaches have been used for Antayodaya coaches, these coaches have max. payload of 24.34 ton and have pneumatic suspension too.
The original LHB technology had Pneumatic suspension for all coaches. To reduce construction and maintenance costs, these were replaced with the spring suspension wherever they were deemed to be 'overkill'.
Overkill? Aren't all coaches in IR flogged to death? So which LHBs are pneumatic now?
Pneumatic suspensions make a difference at high speeds and with dense loads. With the kind of speeds we typically see in IR, well designed spring suspensions have shown excellent performance with smaller maintenance costs. Also, the pneumatic suspension is only in the secondary stage, mainly contributing to ride quality while the primary suspension ( spring suspension in the original LHB technology as well) takes care of most of the large forces on the coach. And with our usual speeds, spring suspensions similar level of comfort as do pneumatic ones.
As far as I know, no pure LHB rake has pneumatic secondary suspensions. The Double decker coaches (derivatives of the LHB coaches) do have secondary pneumatic suspensions, as...
Why pneumatic suspensions are good because even after leakage .. The internal backup spring suspension can allow the train to run upto 80-100kmph ..
So will not effect the train run and timings and can become a good safety device ..plus support high compression ..load factor and ride quality ..
