Oh wow...that's brilliant.... I would love to hear rail related stories from you about Eurostar & rails in UK.....By the way as a "train manager", what was your nature of duty on the Eurostar trains???
I really love this aspect of railfanning as a passion as it can connect you with people across borders. Cheers.

I've been retired for about 15yrs now! Basically in charge of everything on train and all the safety and operational issues. Need to be conversant with rules and regs of 4 railways. UK-France-Belgium and Eurotunnel. Trains travelled at maximum speed of 186mph and 100mph through tunnel. Quite a tressful job at times.

That's really nice to hear.... Pretty impressive speeds on offer in your country....Indian Railways lags behind in the aspect of speed. But we are slowly & steadily catching up. Gatimaan Express is certified to run at 100 mph for a major part of its 188 km run. I wanted to ask you a question related to Eurostar trains. I once saw a documentary on them on Discovery Channel. The narrator said that on curves, their speed reduces to 100 km/h and he termed it as "ridiculous". Is it true that 100 km/h speed is perceived that way in your country????Cheers

That was probably when the high speed line between London and Eurotunnel hadn't been completed. But then again I don't ever recall the train running at 50kph round bends.
High speed lines have very few bends indeed for obvious reasons.
By the way one of my duties was also to be able to drive the train in an emergency. Obviously we then had to do all the training for that and take regular assessments.
We

also had to be able to communicate in English and French.

Europe has a developed railway system, Indian is still 20-30 years behind that.
