One of main reasons for flying into Delhi is to take Radjhani train to Goa.
Also we want to travel on the Shadtbati train to Agra and back. For two reasons really.
1. To experience that train as I hear in 1AC breakfast served at seat. Are all seats around a table?
2. In Agra it would be criminal not

to visit the Taj Mahal. I think it's do-able in a day trip. Any thoughts anyone.

If you follow the Gatimaan-Shatabdi Combo then you get close to 11 hours in Agra from 10 am to 9 pm which I feel is sufficient enough. The only problem is that in the return, you will arrive Delhi close to 11 PM so you will have to arrange accommodation beforehand in order to avoid late night hassles. But don't go on Friday because Taj Mahal is closed on that day.

Will suggest you following points.
1. Take Gatimaan Express if you are comfortable in taking train from Nizamuddin Station. Gatimaan and Shatabdi Coaches are Same. With Gatimaan Having 10-12kmph more speed then Shatabdi and without any Halt. Food is served at Seat itself in both the train.. You won't find All seat around the Table. Only Middle seats have Table for rest There's provision for Seat Attached Food Rack.
2. Yes Taj Mahal is a Must , as i'm from Agra Only, Private Msg me i can give you some insight and help

you regarding planning the trip.
you can visit Taj Mahal , Agra Fort + Sikandra Also, in One Day itself.
Will suggest you that you should take Bhopal Shatabdi in the morning as it will save your time at Agra.

Thanks for that very useful info. Thinking of around first week of February next year. Only real time we can make it. Not sure it's best time to visit though weather wise.
Your thoughts?

It would be fine. Better to plan towards the end of Feb to avoid Fog related delays.

In Agra, Tourist Season starts from October till March. You can plan for February, Great Time... Weather will be fine, you can expect Lil bit fog. avoid Taj b/w 7-8 in morning Due to Mist/Fog it will ruin your experience. For rest of the time, it will be Fine.
Also If you plan for Feb mid-end , There's a Fest Near Taj Mahal Known as "Taj Mahotsav" Which I Suggest you should check out. It's a Great 10 day Cultural Festival in Shilpgram. now Day's it's being held in the month of March.
