The horror didn't end here as the crushed cycle gets stuck under the wheels of the WAP-4 locomotive and in a hurry the LP applies the emergency brakes to ensure that the train comes to a halt in time else it would have lead to a catastrophe...!! 10/10 to awareness and alertness of the loco pilots who saved the lives of thousands that evening. After a grueling 30 minutes the charred cycle was finally remove and further it took another 20 more minutes for the Loco Pilot and the assistant loco pilot to get the reassurance that they were good to go..!! The Flasher Light is used to attract the attention of loco pilot of upcoming train. When he see it he also stop his train.Flasher light is used in accident cases like this.
Flasher light is used to let the upcoming train LP know that, his train need attention and has been stopped due to emergency. Even the horn during such emergency brake follows a pattern. This is to alert railway staff(especially gangman) that, train has been stopped because of emergency and need attention.
In this video, if you see, railway staff had shown red flag. He might have seen flasher light, and then saw the sparks coming out.

Flasher was turned on as a result of emergency brakes and to make the khalasi aware that the train has hit something and needs attention as a result of which the khalasi responded with a red flag signifying immediate stoppage.!!
Just to save an extra minute, people end up taking such risks. While the human life was saved, it would have been a good lesson for the person who paid a price and lost his bicycle.
Kudos to the the loco pilot who undoubtedly are the unsung heroes of railways. They rarely get their due despite working in adverse conditions and limited facilities.

Exactly brother..!! The LP's were the heroes that day...!! It could have lead to some serious issue and even derailment had the LP's not applied the brakes on time..!! But that guy along with many other foolish beings out there never learn..he will be under trauma for some days and afterwards..back to square one :(
