Indian Railway China ko kakara jawab dene mein saksham nahin hai. Jyada je jyada Chinese rly expansion ke saamne kaam chalau intezaam kar sakta hai.

IR can never give a befitting reply to Chinese Rly expansion to Nepal, at the most it can do a face saving job.

has very intelligently expanded/expanding its Rly network towards Tibet, Europe, Pakistan, Nepal etc with an intended economic gains through shorter, cheaper and safer transportation of huge volumes of its exported goods to these nations. It has already started long distance freight trains to Spain, UK and intend to connect to Nepal/Pakistan etc. through rail for cheaper transportation of its bumper volume of its exports/ imports.
With China's disputed claims over south china sea creating tension with affected neighbouring countries, its current sea route of exported goods is becoming increasingly dangerous. So Rly network expansion of China has strategic implications too!

India on the other hand is draining its precious/scarce resources on these financially loss making ventures in guise of strategic necessity of matching the Chinese Rly expansion. Where as main lines transporting traffic huge volumes are saturated and crying for augmentation.
