Howrah Saraighat Express honks hard and charges down the mid reversaltrack at BRPA with the imported EMD first WDP 4 #20000 belonging to Siliguri DLS .
Minutes after that , the 138 years old Legend a.k.a. The Darjeeling Mail 12344 New Jalpaiguri -Sealdah , with a dual cab EMD monster from SGUJ storms past the same track at BRPA chasing the Saraighat Exp badly .
Recently Sealdah Division of ER has proposed a new route of this train , which is similar to the original route before the partition India & Bengal this train used to follow . However most people apart from we Railfans do not favour this new route via Mushidabad - Krishnanagar - Naihati over the persent route via Rampurhat - Burdwan - Bolpur to Malda .
Though this route may save 20 odd kms from the present route , but in the long run this change may/may not be effective for this age old Legendary train . Lets hope for the best !! |
