I want to experience journey on Konkan route of Indian Railways. Planning in August second week. Can someone please tell me from where to where I should travel to enjoy this route the most. If possible please suggest a train too. Thanks in advance.
10103 mandovi express is the best. For speedy action the best train is 12051 JS. These trains cover the pnvl-mao route. If you want to travel from SBC, a good chain is to take 16515-18048-12080 from YPR to YPR via MAJN- KAWR-MAO-DDS-UBL- YPR. In this route you can cover shiradi ghats, konkan and dudhsagar falls in one day!
Can you suggest from Hyderabad ? SLeeper would be fine during that time, right ?
Yes sleeper is best for railfanning! And 16515/75 and 12080 are all 2S trains. This trip takes 2 full days from YPR. For SC, you can see connecting night trains from SC- YPR which reach before 07:00 AM. For return you can catch 12649 to kcg from YPR. Use the new kudla express 16575 to save time.
Catch 12785, get down at YNK and take 401 bus series from there to YPR. Ask anyone the 401 bus is famous. Even though SBC is nearer to YPR, many trains get unnecessarily delayed. 401 at max takes 1 hour to reach YPR. 16575 departs at 07:50 from YPR to MAJN. Check the days of run! The shiradi ghat route is one of the best railfanning spots in IR! Sit on the right side of the door after sakleshpur for breath taking view! Get down at MAJN and catch some train towards MAO. 12617 is a daily option, else some weekly train. You will reach MAO by midnight. Stay in the RR in MAO, its good and cheap during rains! Morning you can catch 18048 to dudhsagar falls, another excellent RF spot! Or else 10104 towards PNVL and enjoy konkan. 18048 will drop you at UBL and return back by JS....
