Suggestions for the proposed New intercity express train between Mettupalayam and Madurai through Podanur-Pollachi BG line.
Afternoon departure from Mettupalayam will be convenient for passengers from Ooty and nearby villages, as they have to travel about 2 to 3 hours to reach Mettupalayam.
Train can start from Madurai at 06:30am and reach Mettupalayam at 13:00 hours.

It will be ordinary express and not superfast. These stops are needed for good patronage. Train will contain mostly unreserved with a few reserved compartments only.

Noon arrival and departure at MTP will be convenient for both tourists and villagers going to Ooty and for those returning from there. Because they have to take a bus to either go home uphills or reach in time to book a room in the hotels.
