Inaugurated on April 6th, 1987 as 929/930 Hyderabad-Cochin weekly express. Prior to that, there were slip coaches from Cochin to Hyderabad. The slip coaches were attached to 81/82 Jayanti Janata express (CSTM-CAPE) at Cochin and were detached at RU (later it was GTL) and were attached there to the Tirupati-Hyderabad express.
