I have personally transfered my confirmed 2A ticket to my brother. when i could not travel from mumbai to chennai in 2009. The procedure for transfer of ticket is simple. The only catch is the ticket can be transfered only with in family. (father, mother,wife,son, brother etc. ) All it took for me was to copy of the ticket, copy of both the passenger ID proof and Ration card for proof of being brother). one must take all the documents along with orginals to the chief ticketing officer of the station. The person checks all the documents and then changes the name in the ticketing system. In return the documents are stamped and signed by the officer with change of passenger mentioned on the ticket. No new tickets are issued. The same old ticket along with the stamp and signature of the officer along with the name change remarks are...

this is good that government is now promoting this scheme. many passengers are confused and in dilemma while transfering ticket to their relatives
Yes...thats why I also tried to share with you all here on this platform....:)
The rail tickets can be transferred to blood relations except husband and wife. If a person is holding a confirmed ticket and is unable to travel, then the ticket can be transferred to his/her family members including father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, husband or wife. For transfer of ticket, an application must be submitted atleast 24 hours in advance of the scheduled departure of the train.
In addition to this, tickets can also be transferred to another government servant travelling on duty, atleast 24 hours in advance of the scheduled departure of the train.
