Bro, dont worry. I too dont know Kannada properly, but I just keep using it everywhere so that I learn it :)
Im also learning kannada im in bangalore from just 1 year only i can manage outside but the thing is near my locality in bangalore no one knows kannada thats y i couldnt learn fast but i will learn the language
