Mail was only night train those days apart from HWH / GHY which was weekly train. Later Kaveri was extended to MAS which ran as special train, got huge response
Kaveri had a nice story- running between Bangalore an dmysore and suddenly a special train for holidays between Bangalore and chennai made Kaveri itself an extension to chennai.. MYS 1800 SBC 21:15 21:25 MAS 0400; MAS 2300 SBC 06:30 7:00 MYS 10:00- Well if timings seems very familiar see the timings of 16235/36 today
Also the days when YPR was unelectrified and Sanghamithra and YPR-HWH having their loco change at JTJ- And BAND line was in MG and YPR-HWH travelling to YNK for reversal to KJM
Most probably this was also the RSA in place for the longest duration in IR! Both trains were started in the 1860's and shared rakes until recently.
