That can be done, see mas dr sa sf express rsa 12163/4
But still, extension to Madurai/CBE is much better,as they can run mdu/cbe to Ms as overnight garib rath weekly, pm at Chennai, then overnight to mdu/cbe
Cleaning at mdu/cbe,and depart as nzm garibrath from mdu/cbe to reach me/mad at 6am
The train will become end to end slow,but garib rath don't need creteria of 75kmph avg unlike rajdhani/durunto/shatabdi
