Which (has been/will be) the best initiative by IR ?
Whether it is technological advancement, electrification, modernization or introduction of new trains, which seems most important to you and needs to be done first or is the best by far ?
(Excluding the DFC project)

Great thoughts.... But I don't agree with Electrification.
It is just useless to waste money and electrify route which has hardly 3-4 trains.
Doubling is more important

* Doubling is definitely more important than electrification but it is not given in the option.
* Today Golden Quadrilateral of IR gives about two third of revenue and may be more profit than the total revenue surplus of IR, as it makes up for the losses incurred by IR in unprofitable branch lines and NG/MG lines.
* My first choice is DFC project which is the best way of doubling (quadrupling) the GQ (the most congested and profitable routes of IR).

* Today electrification is important and its importance will increase as the electrified route kilometerage increase and non-electrified route shall start existing in patches, there by making diesel haulage costlier due to lower utilisation factor of locos as well as loco pilots and losses due to frequent loco changes from E to D and vice versa..

* Under traditional IR style management, HSTs cannot be succesfull. If Konkan Rly, Delhi Metro etc can be managed better than IR, HSTs shall also be better managed than IR. Hope HST shall be managed by joint venture of IR with pvt sector, with tracks & trains as well as work culture (operation/maintenance) of Japanese HSTs.
