Hello Everyone.
Was wondering why do we need to run the EOG in Rajdhani and Shatabdi with Diesel Generators. Is it not possible to connect them to the engine for power in electrified sections and run them on diesel only on non-electrified sections? Saves a lot of precious fuel.
I do not know if this has been discussed before. I had joined only recently.

The proble is of electric locomotives. They get limited due to other train usages.
You will not belive that Mumbai-Ahmedabad route is totally Electrified but still Bandra-Delhi sarai rohilla garibrath express runs the whole route on diesel engine

The recently introduced HOG (Head On Generator) WAP 7 is used for generating power to the whole rakes of Shatabdi/Duronto?Garib Rath/Rajdhani. The trains being carried by this particular loco dosent need any EOG (the EOG's are switched off during journey). We can hope to see more of such HOG's in the future..
That is good. I feel this should be implemented ASAP to all the other Raj and Shats. I read this is how the trains in other countries run with the power provided by HOG. Anyways, better late than never. BTW, the new rakes in TVC Raj rocks!!!
