Partially wait listed refund -
I booked 3 e-tickets few days back. 2 tickets got confirmed and one was wait listed after chart preparation. Confirmed passengers traveled and Wait listed person did not travel. How do I get the refund of wait listed ticket? Do I have to apply for the refund or will it get refunded automatically? Pls explain.

you have to file a tdr at the website and also obtain a certificate from the tte of the passenger not travelled and send it via post to irctc,then your refund will be processed bacl electronically to your account
Refund won't happen automatically. You need to get an endorsement from TTE for waitlisted passengers not travelled and file TDR for the same with the endorsement. The money will be credited to your account later.
Thanks for the reply. One more question is - are the partially wait listed passengers allowed to board and travel in the reserved coaches?
as per rules no,but in reality they do so comfortably and no questions will be raised by any one including the railway employees...
Yes, Partially waitlisted passengers name will appear in the chart, and they are equal to the waitlist passengers as travelling from normal ticket bought in PRS counters directly
