I have not been to Hyderabad. So no idea about MMTS announcements. But I heard regular train announcements in stations like Tirupati, Guntakal etc., It is good.
Yes even I too heard SCR tone long back hope still they might be using same one.. But I heard same SCR tone at Gadag jn in MG time but later changed to some other one and now I don't know they are using or removed same lime how they did at BAY jn cause both lie in same division so chances are their In Gadag to without tone announcements it seems silly one but very important and memorable for me to listen those different zones tones whigh I heard in my childhood it takes me back to my childhood..
Tone before announcement alerts a person to listen the announcement. Hence it is useful.
Yes MMTS announcement is good one I been hyd in 2014 I enjoyed MMTS ride..
Just I was browsing in Google about train announcements I got info that the lady who voice we hear in almost lot of stations in IR is Sarla Chaudhary a Central Railway zone employee joined as announcer in 1982 and Railways recorded her voice in All India Radio in 1991 and stored the same on computerized system which takes voice of the lady to announce at stations..
