This an advance announcement of some important changes coming to our Groups.

more... this point, we have many Groups with hundreds of dormant/inactive members who may have left the site and not logged in for several months/years. All of this adds to the rising maintenance costs of the site. As explained in the prior post, it is better to have a small room with 10-20 people of highly involved and active individuals rather than a large empty room.

For the above reasons, namely,
1. Rising maintenance costs due to wastage of resources.
2. Hundreds of Inactive/dormant members.

we shall be DISMANTLING and reorganizing ALL our groups as per the following scheme.

1. All our groups will have a Rotation scheme similar to the FM Group. After 21 days, the member will get auto-logged out, making space for someone else.

2. Groups will not have more than 20 members at a time. If a group fills up with active/interested members, then space will be available after members get logged out, either voluntarily or if 21 days are up.

3. All our current members/Monitors/Admins/RF Clubs may SELF-REGISTER into ANY group they are currently a member of if there is space. After they register, they will be active for 21 days. After this time period, they may re-register after a 2-week break. All our current members will RETAIN all their privileges. They will just not be a member of the group.

4. For example, all our currently Timeline Monitors will be called Timeline Experts (TLEs). They will RETAIN ALL their current Timeline privileges. They may make ANY update directly to the site, etc. just like before. However, they won't be able to stamp other member TLs. TLEs who self-register into the TLM Group will be able to stamp member TLs, put Confirmed TLs into WL, etc.

5. Any TLE who is interested in stamping TLs, etc. is free to self-register into the TLM Group at any time. The same goes for ALL our groups including RF Clubs, Admin, etc.

6. Eligible members (Experts) may self-register into ANY group at ANY time. However, they will NOT be permanent members of the group.
.
7. So for example, if a member is logging in after 10 months, he/she may SELF-register into ANY group that he is eligible for, IF he/she is interested. This way, we don't have to pile/store thousands of notifications/messages for members who may have left the site many years ago.

TL;DR.
1. Groups will be dismantled and reorganized.
2. All our members will RETAIN ALL their current Privileges.
3. Group membership will be on a Rotation basis.
4. Members may self-Register into ANY group at ANY time, if they are interested.

Objective:
1. Conservation of resources/reduction of maintenance costs.
2. Having small groups of active/involved members, instead of large groups of dormant members.
