as rail budget comes nearer, all the rail fans are anticipating new train announcements and other good things.we all know IR short of funds this time and to lessen the burden they r going to advance ARP by 120 days (a good move). as there r more serious railfans out there, lets pour suggestions on how IR can increase profitability and get funds via other route??? (leave fancy train announcements apart and focus more on small technicals).
1.one suggestion on my part is to convert Yuva trains to short distance shatabdi trains.

cost of platform ticket to 10 (which is not much) which i think will not be opposed understanding the harassment we get into while not having change.
3.open tenders for MNCs like MC'Donalds, Subway, Dominos etc on setting food courts on big station premises.

My side suggestions:
1.Revisiting concept of durantos.(I dont say to introduce stops but i say to reduce number)
2.rounding of fares: express fares can be rounded to nearest 5 for small hike and fast issue of tickets.
3.dedicated counters at stations to issue tickets to dedicated places.
4.expanding

internet booking facilities.
5.Adveritsing inside trains: in the space between berths etc.
6.better utilisation of rakes.
7.increasing coach carrying capacity to 80.
8.Let the TTE check tickets in general compartments during runtime in duty.
(the duty of tte is 6 hrs and he completes in 30 min and sits idle. let him go for a round fo checking)
9.cancel flop durantos.

I had seen several times in Suburban trains near Chennai surroundings. Quite a few times at Gummidipundi station. A large no.of RPF'S they form a circle around the local train. And same with the ticket squad they check each and every person. Here no one can't escape from these Squad and RPF personals. And they form a group of ticketless travelers and they board them into a vendors coach. While getting down at Chennai they untie their shirt lower buttons and tie the half part of shirt with another person. After tieing they escort them to the court for fine and punishment. While going to the court how much embarassment they feel coz each and everybody will see them. And maybe next time they travel with proper ticket.
