@all:
IRI is a PUBLIC information website, like Wikipedia. The voluntarily posted Blogs, Train/Station Tips, Train/Station Pics, Polls, Train TTs, PNRs, etc. comprise the permanent publicly viewable and searchable repository of IRI. A PUBLIC info website is unlike WhatsApp, FaceBook, Instagram, etc. where people post personal pics and other stuff, which CAN be deleted any time they want.
.
When a person quits a

PERSONAL info website, ALL their personal info/pics, etc. are deleted. Similarly, if you quit GMail, all your email is deleted. When a person quits a PUBLIC info website, the public info posted by the person is NOT DELETED, it is ANONYMIZED. If I choose to quit Wikipedia, I may NOT say that I will delete the city of "Delhi" from the entire Wikipedia database, because "I updated it, so it is mine.".
.
In a PUBLIC info website, members are given due credit for all their Activities and Postings. However, the Info, once posted, belongs in the PUBLIC domain, and MAY NOT be deleted, without a clear, valid reason - like personally related stuff, selfie images, personally targeted posts, offensive posts, etc. Arbitrary deletion of info constitutes VANDALISM of the site.
.
This is a clarification and reiteration of a long-standing policy of the site. When you quit IRI, your profile is DELETED and ALL your activities are ANONYMIZED. Your blogs and other inputs are DELINKED from your profile. Blogs and other inputs are NOT deleted. This practice has been there since site inception.
.
Once again:
When members post blogs/replies/polls, other members spend their time and energy in reading them, responding to them, voting on them, rating them, etc. When pics are posted, other members rate them, comment on them, and so forth. This site undertakes to preserve blogs by all members for the lifetime of the site. This is the reason we are able to see blogs, train/station history, PNRs, etc. ALL the way back to 2008. These posts will NOT be deleted by member demand, if he suddenly decides to quit the site.
.
In the same vein, members who wish to leave the site may not demand:
Yesterday, I updated the TT of Karnataka Express. It is MY TT. I am leaving the site, and so I want the train TT to be immediately reverted/deleted. Deleting blogs when a member quits the site would amount to a waste of time by the rest of the community.
.
So once again, members are free to quit the site anytime, and their profile will be deleted. A member's personal profile is the ONLY private info in IRI. The profile will be completely deleted. After that, their profile will be de-linked. Blogs/tips/TL History, etc. will not be searchable by their name, etc. However, no PUBLIC info will be deleted.
.
If you do not agree with the above, then please go to the profile page, and QUIT the site immediately.
.
Thanks.

This is somewhat #offtopic but quite important.
Can anything be done regarding Ambiguous ratings given to trains that haven't even started yet ? Like some days ago, a Monitor and myself tagged you in a post regarding ratings given to Lucknow Tejas that haven't even started yet, same for some other trains too.
Can the power of giving ratings not be linked to a PNR/Trip on the same train or a Railfanning session involving the same train ? So that some justification and deliberation is there in those ratings.

same matter has been raised many times from Monitors, Admins and Members alike. And this matter although maybe insignificant to the Quantum of site operations does some serious damage to site's reputation.
I suggest you take this matter seriously.
Thanks.
